Fugue State, by Brian Evenson
This latest collection of Evenson’s short fiction is far and away his best. The stories sing with violence, black humor, and a momentum and clarity that sometimes has felt missing in the past. Especially of interest here is his breathing new life into traditional horror tropes through his skill, style, and subtleties.
